Requirements
Must:
- Proven experience working as a Java Software Engineer on large microservice architectures
- Active Security Clearance (SC)
- Strong capability building scalable RESTful APIs and backend services in Java (Spring Boot)
- Proficiency with Postgres (or other relational SQL databases) and solid understanding of schema design and SQL
- Experience with Docker, confident in containerising and deploying applications
- Familiarity with Test-Driven Development (JUnit & Mockito or similar testing frameworks)
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD using Jenkins or similar automated pipeline tooling
- Flexibility working in agile teams and collaborating closely with engineers, product, and design colleagues
- Nice to have: API Specification using Swagger/OpenAPI
- Nice to have: Experience with Gradle build systems
- Nice to have: Familiarity with Liquibase (or similar) for database versioning/migrations
- Nice to have: Experience with Kafka or similar event-streaming platforms
- Nice to have: Knowledge of React and Typescript
Responsibilities
- Participate in the design and implementation of large-scale microservices architecture
- Develop and maintain robust RESTful APIs and backend services using Java (Spring Boot)
- Collaborate with the team to containerise and deploy applications using Docker
- Write and maintain unit tests to ensure code quality through Test-Driven Development
- Work with the CI/CD pipeline for seamless integration and delivery
- Engage actively in agile ceremonies and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
- Continuously improve system performance and reliability through best practices
- Contribute to documentation and specification of APIs
