Requirements

Must:
- Strong hands-on experience as a Cloud Engineer or Platform Engineer. - Significant experience designing and operating Microsoft Azure environments. - Proven experience migrating large-scale datasets (tens to hundreds of TB) into cloud platforms. - Deep understanding of Azure storage services, particularly Blob Storage and ADLS Gen2. - Strong experience with Azure networking, including private endpoints, VNET integration, and firewalling. - Practical experience implementing RBAC, managed identities, and least-privilege access models. - Experience using Terraform and/or Bicep for automated infrastructure provisioning. - Ability to troubleshoot performance, throughput, and reliability issues during data transfer. - Strong communication skills, able to work across technical and non-technical teams. - Familiarity with Azure HPC, batch processing, or compute-heavy data platforms. (Desirable) - Experience working in the NHS, public sector, or highly regulated environments. (Desirable) - Experience with Azure DevOps for source control, CI/CD, and work tracking. (Desirable) - Exposure to hybrid or on-prem to cloud data transfer patterns (e.g. Data Box, AzCopy, private links). (Desirable)

Responsibilities

- Engineer and execute large-scale data transfer and migration of datasets into Azure. - Design and implement Azure-based storage solutions (Blob, ADLS Gen2) appropriate for high-volume, high-throughput data. - Configure and manage secure data ingestion patterns, including private networking, firewalls, and endpoint controls. - Implement role-based access control (RBAC) and data access segregation aligned to governance and IG requirements. - Build and maintain infrastructure as code for the platform using Terraform or Bicep. - Support platform components required for downstream analytics and HPC-style workloads (without owning analytics design). - Produce clear technical documentation covering architecture, data flows, and operational processes. - Work within agile delivery methods and collaborate closely with architects, engineers, and delivery leads.

We are a large organisation based in Cardiff, offering a contract role as an Azure Cloud Platform Engineer within a dynamic team. The position is hybrid, requiring one day per week on-site. We provide competitive daily rates between £400 to £450, inside IR35, for a duration of 3 months, focused on delivering a greenfield environment to host multi-terabytes of data.
