Requirements
Must:
I am looking for experienced Data professionals with proven skills in managing and maintaining a data warehouse within a large organization. You should have expertise in writing ETL scripts and code, ensuring optimal performance of the ETL process. A strong understanding of the concepts and principles of data modeling and metadata management is essential. You will need the ability to design, code, and execute test scripts to support our ETL processes. Additionally, you should possess strong in-depth knowledge of Database Administration with MSSQL Server and expert knowledge of Microsoft Azure / AWS Platforms, specifically in Cloud Storage, Compute, and Databases.
Essential skills include:
- Python 3.x (with pandas, numpy, sqlalchemy, argparse, and logging)
- MS SQL Server (2019 and later)
Desirable skills include:
- Linux server technologies (Redhat 8, Ubuntu 22.04)
- Qlik Data Movement Gateway (linux based)
- Airflow orchestration across multiple technologies (e.g., powershell, python, t-sql)
- Airbyte data movement, including API-driven data loading pipelines
- Qlik Cloud / Qlik Sense Data Architecture certification
Responsibilities
In your role as a Data Engineer working under the Head of Data Engineering in our Digital Directorate, you will be a key member of our Data Engineering team. Your main responsibilities will include managing day-to-day ETL operations and collaborating with the wider Performance Team and Digital Team to meet the data management needs of the Trust. You will play a fundamental role in developing and constructing data models for our services' data warehousing needs, integrating them into systems and business processes to support self-service reporting, compliance reporting, and third-party data integrations. Another key responsibility will be to re-engineer manual data flows for scalability and automation, as well as supporting the build of data streaming systems.

This position offers the possibility of hybrid working. When presence in an office is required for technical workshops or face-to-face interactions, it will mainly involve working in Brighton and Hove, as well as other NHS premises across East and West Sussex. The work environment is vibrant and thriving, close to the sea and the South Downs, with good connections to London.
