Requirements
Must:
To secure this role, you should have:
- Proven experience in IT, with experience in the education sector being desirable.
- Relevant IT qualifications.
- Leadership or mentoring experience.
- Familiarity with using Google Workspace, school Management Information Systems (MIS), and server administration.
- Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to understand and empathize with non-technical users.
- Knowledge of data protection requirements and cybersecurity policies.
- A highly organized and proactive approach.
- An analytical mindset with the ability to collate and interpret data.
Responsibilities
In this role as IT Manager, your main responsibilities will include:
- Managing the school's infrastructure, including servers, networks, security systems, helpdesk, and troubleshooting services.
- Maintaining and upgrading software applications.
- Overseeing network administration, including setting up new staff and pupils and controlling access rights.
- Holding regular team meetings with ICT support staff, managing their performance, and undertaking appraisals.
- Ensuring a high level of security for school networks, including firewalls, antivirus software, and access control systems with backup data.
- Working closely with the wider IT team, including overseeing one apprentice.
- Liaising with academic staff and senior leadership while keeping up to date on upcoming changes from an IT perspective.
- Overseeing the roll-out of IT projects across the school, with the support of Local Authority IT services.
Description
We are a high school in Stockport, serving over 800 pupils aged 11-16 and employing over 100 staff. We have a long-standing and well-established IT team, and we are seeking an experienced IT specialist from the education sector to take over as IT Manager following the retirement of our current IT Manager later this year. This position offers a competitive salary ranging from £36,000 to £40,500, depending on experience, along with an attractive benefits package that includes 28 days of holiday (plus bank holidays), additional time off after five years of service, and an appealing local government pension scheme.
