Must:
To be successful in securing this position, I require significant IT leadership experience. Specifically, you must have expertise in designing and delivering an IT strategy while ensuring the successful completion of projects and leading a team to provide a high level of IT service. Ideally, I am looking for someone with experience working in the education sector, particularly in a multi-site role, which will provide you with a strong knowledge of educational technologies and their impact on teaching and learning in schools. A passion for the education sector is essential, along with a desire to further develop your skills and experience as a vital part of our growing organization. Furthermore, as we are a Microsoft Trust, it's crucial that you have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365, and experience with Arbor would be beneficial.
Responsibilities
As the Head of IT, you will report directly to the CEO and will be responsible for the strategic leadership, development, and management of our Trust's IT infrastructure and service. You will manage a high-performing team of IT specialists to ensure that our academies and the central team receive comprehensive support. From a strategic standpoint, you will collaborate closely with the Senior Leadership Team and stakeholders across the organization to ensure an IT service that promotes the highest levels of teaching and learning. You will lead the management of our service desk and consider the implementation of new technologies and software development, thus keeping the trust at the forefront of the EdTech sector.
Additionally, you will promote and develop the use of IT policies and processes throughout the trust, fostering positive working practices and identifying proactive solutions to potential challenges. You will have overall responsibility for the network across the trust and manage an existing team of 2 IT Managers, considering the evolution of our IT offerings to schools. Cyber-security and IT compliance will also fall under your purview, requiring regular reviews of policies, procedures, and service level agreements to ensure the highest level of service. You will lead and successfully deliver all IT projects, being accountable for timings and budgets while managing the IT budget and regularly communicating with the Senior Leadership Team regarding upcoming IT projects and associated costs.
Description
This multi-academy trust, located in Burnley, East Lancashire, currently comprises 12 primary schools and 4 secondary schools, with growth plans to expand to around 60 schools over the next 5 years. We are proud to play an integral part in fulfilling the Diocese's vision, with our values of Faith, Service, Aspiration, and Collaboration at the core of everything we do. As part of our central team, we provide a high level of support to all academies, and this is an incredibly exciting time to join us as we drive forward the success and growth of the trust. The role is on-site five days a week in Lancashire, with time spent at both the central head office and individual academies. In return for your commitment, you'll receive a competitive salary between £60,000 and £68,000 (dependent on experience) along with annual pay reviews and an attractive benefits package. This includes access to a local government pension scheme, an Employee Assistance Programme, free on-site parking, discounted gym membership, and a Blue Light Discount card. Additionally, holidays will depend on continuous service in the public sector, offering either 26 days plus statutory and bank holidays (36 days total) or, for those with more than 5 years of service, 32 days plus statutory days and bank holidays (42 days total).
