Requirements
Must:
To thrive in this role, you will need:
- Strong experience with Cloud SQL (MySQL) and BigQuery, including indexing, query plans, and schema design.
- Hands-on production experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Proficiency in Terraform, Git, Bash, and other scripting/IaC tools.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools like Cloud Monitoring or New Relic.
- Solid understanding of database security, IAM, encryption, and audit logging.
- Proven operational experience with high availability, backups, disaster recovery, and change management.
- Excellent documentation and stakeholder communication skills.
- Bonus points for experience with Couchbase, Redis, Kubernetes, Airbyte, Laravel, and Agile methodologies.
- GCP certifications (Data Engineer or Cloud Architect) are also desirable.
Responsibilities
As a Senior Database Administrator, you will play a pivotal role in our technology function, leading the design, optimization, and scaling of our cloud-based data platform. You will be responsible for both transactional and analytical workloads across Cloud SQL (MySQL) and BigQuery, ensuring performance, reliability, security, and cost-efficiency. This is a hands-on role where you will manage high availability setups, performance tuning, disaster recovery planning, automation, and observability. You will also mentor engineers, maintain documentation, and manage third-party relationships.
