Must:
- Hands-on experience with Akamai (KSD, WAF, CDN) for the Engineer role
- Extensive hands-on Akamai experience (KSD, WAF, Bot Manager, EdgeWorkers, CDN) for the Senior Engineer role
- Understanding of OWASP Top 10, DDoS, bot behaviors for the Engineer role
- Strong knowledge of OWASP Top 10, DDoS, API protection & bot threats for the Senior Engineer role
- Strong grasp of HTTP/S, DNS, TLS, caching & CDNs for the Engineer role
- Deep understanding of HTTP/S, DNS, TCP/IP, TLS & caching strategies for the Senior Engineer role
- Basic scripting skills in Python, Shell, or APIs for the Engineer role
- Scripting/automation experience with Python, Shell, Akamai APIs for the Senior Engineer role
- Solid troubleshooting & analytical skills for the Engineer role
- Strong troubleshooting & performance tuning capability for the Senior Engineer role
- Experience with large-scale, high-traffic web environments for the Senior Engineer role
Responsibilities
- Configure & maintain Akamai tools (KSD, WAF, Bot Manager, CDN)
- Support implementation of rulesets, policies & routing configs
- Monitor traffic, identify threats & assist in incident response
- Tune WAF & bot rules to reduce false positives
- Assist with CDN configuration, caching & performance tuning
- Manage certificates, redirects, and Akamai property updates
- Collaborate with application teams for secure deployments
- Produce documentation & support continuous improvement
- Architect, configure & optimise Akamai tools (KSD, WAF, Bot Manager, CDN)
- Lead end-to-end policy and ruleset implementation
- Conduct threat analysis, log review & incident response
- Implement rate limiting, DDoS protection & bot mitigation
- Manage Akamai properties, certificates, redirects & routing
- Provide technical leadership & best-practice guidance
Description
We are seeking an Akamai Security Engineer and a Senior Akamai Security Engineer to lead the design, deployment, and optimisation of Akamai security solutions across our large-scale, high-traffic digital platforms. These key engineering roles will focus on enhancing web security, performance, and embedding best-practice Akamai configurations into global environments. This contract role is based in Knutsford, with a hybrid working model of three days onsite and two days remote.
