Requirements
Must:
- I have experience in Android development using Kotlin and Android Studio.
- I am passionate about mobile development, staying updated with the latest Android trends and best practices.
- I possess a good understanding of Android design principles and interface guidelines.
- I embrace collaboration when building solutions.
- I have a solid understanding of MVVM architecture and associated design patterns.
- I apply SOLID principles to improve code structure, quality, and maintainability.
- I have a DevOps mindset and understand how software and infrastructure work together.
- I have knowledge of continuous integration, continuous delivery, and how these are implemented via the use of pipelines.
- I proactively look for solutions to issues that arise in my domain.
- I have experience troubleshooting/debugging application bugs and making performance improvements.
- I am familiar with using Gradle.
- I understand mobile app analytics and its use to maintain stable, crash-free applications.
- I have knowledge of using Jetpack Compose.
- I have experience utilizing native OS features such as push notifications, Health Connect, and Intents.
- I have experience integrating with RESTful APIs.
- I can handle concurrency, such as managing background tasks and network activity without blocking the UI thread.
Responsibilities
- I work with a multi-disciplinary team to design, document, and develop high-quality, scalable solutions for the NHS App's Android application using Kotlin.
- I create appropriate unit and integration tests for my work.
- I write clean, maintainable, and efficient code that follows best practices and coding standards.
- I optimize solutions for performance and speed to provide an excellent user experience.
- I ensure the application meets the Google Play Store requirements.
- I work closely with UI/UX designers to ensure the application implements a consistent and intuitive visual design.
- I support what I deliver in production.
Description
In this role, I will be part of the team responsible for developing and maintaining features for the Android variant of the NHS App. Working in a multi-disciplinary team of tech, design, business, product, infrastructure, and testing, I will help to design, develop, test, and deliver new features while also maintaining existing ones. I will be involved throughout the entire product lifecycle, primarily responsible for producing high-quality, performant, well-documented, and tested features that deliver a first-class experience to millions of users across England.
