Requirements
Must:
- I have a valid Disclosure Scotland check.
- I possess extensive experience in Java development (Java 8/11/17).
- I am knowledgeable in the Spring Framework (MVC, transactions, Security).
- I have proven migration experience from Spring 2.x/3.x to 5.x/6.x.
- I am experienced in Hibernate/JPA, including an upgrade to Hibernate 5.6.
- I am skilled in remediating security vulnerabilities (CVE mitigation, CSRF/session handling).
- I have strong JSP/JSTL experience and can retire legacy Tiles layouts.
- I am familiar with Maven, Jenkins CI/CD, and TomEE 8 deployment.
- I have experience with Eclipse IDE (preferred toolchain).
- I have prior experience in public-sector application remediation or cyber uplift projects.
- I am aware of future Jakarta EE (javax to jakarta) migration implications.
- I have knowledge of legacy Ant builds and hybrid build environments.
Responsibilities
- I will upgrade our client's application from Spring 2.5 and Spring Security 2.0.8 to Spring Framework 5.3.x and Spring Security 5.8.x.
Description
This is an urgent requirement for a Java Developer role for a public sector client in Edinburgh. It is a 10-week contract, inside of IR35, offering £425 - £450 a day.
