Requirements
Must:
- I am looking for candidates with a numerate degree.
- Strong functional understanding of physical trading, preferably Gas and/or Power, with knowledge of complex contract optionality and portfolio and schedule optimization. Familiarity with options modeling and dependency graphs is essential.
- My ideal candidate will have demonstrated capability across several architecture facets:
- Data: Deep knowledge of data modeling for both transactional and analytic use cases, real-time reporting techniques (including distributed caching), vendor and bespoke reporting tools, as well as data migration and reconciliation techniques. Familiarity with MongoDB unstructured databases is a plus.
- Technical: Hands-on expertise with architecture and design patterns and their implementation, including documentation of design decisions and trade-offs for commodity trading systems. Familiarity with core AWS product offerings, code development (C#/Java), microservice containerization tools (Docker, OpenShift, Kubernetes), and web UI development (React) is required. Understanding Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) is a must.
- Integration: Expert-level experience with integration techniques, including real-time messaging (AMQ), API design (JSON, Swagger), and batch techniques.
- Infrastructure and Operational: Familiarity with DevOps practices, including CI/CD, automated deployments via Ansible, GIT repositories, cloud infrastructure offerings, grid computing elasticity, and cost optimization.
- Comprehensive understanding of Agile delivery methodology is required.
- Ability to work in small teams or independently for project delivery is essential.
- Candidates should exhibit strong analytical and problem-solving skills to provide high-quality solutions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must.
Responsibilities
- I will need you to work directly with subject matter experts, product owners, designers, technical leads, and other architects to re-architect and design the next generation of our Gas and Power trading platform with modern technologies, aligning with our business and technology strategies.
- You will be responsible for gathering requirements, conducting analysis, and designing across functional, non-functional technical, and operational domains.
- As a thought leader in your domain, you will act as a key advisor during delivery and design reviews.
- You will handle business changes and manage stakeholder expectations effectively.
- It will be necessary for you to manage communication across multiple teams, vendors, and consulting staff.
Description
- I am looking for candidates who possess familiarity with microservices architecture and related technologies (containerization, messaging, caching). - Familiarity with cloud hosting (AWS) is also needed. - Full lifecycle experience in physical energy trading, particularly in power and/or gas markets, is a mandatory requirement for this role. - This position allows for a flexible working environment with a 60/40 split, requiring attendance in our Canary Wharf office for three days a week or the possibility to work remotely. - The contract length will run until December 31st, with a possibility of extension, and the working hours will total 40 hours per week.
