Requirements
Must:
- 10 years of commercial experience building web and front-end applications
- At least 4 years leading engineering teams
- High proficiency in React and AWS cloud technology stack
- Strong grasp of front-end design patterns and best practices
- Proven hands-on software engineering background with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and React-based frameworks
- Strong understanding of modern front-end architecture, including state management, routing, navigation, performance optimisation, module federation, and accessibility standards
- Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
- Solid understanding of secure API integration, authentication, and authorisation flows
- Comfortable leading design implementation and collaborating with Product and Design teams using tools like Figma
- Experience working in cloud-native environments including AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes
- Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools such as Prometheus and Grafana
- Strong advocate for quality and security in development
- Passionate about mentoring and developing engineers
- Proven experience leading high-performing engineering teams in fast-paced environments
- Strong communication and articulation skills
Responsibilities
- Recruit, lead, and develop an agile team of 5-7 front-end and web engineers
- Own people management responsibilities including hiring, onboarding, and performance management
- Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performance team culture
- Provide hands-on technical leadership for the design and delivery of front-end web applications
- Define and uphold front-end engineering standards and best practices
- Lead technical decision-making balancing short-term delivery needs and long-term maintainability
- Ensure applications are performant, accessible, secure, and compliant
- Lead the integration of front-end platforms with backend services using GraphQL APIs
- Collaborate with backend, platform, and DevOps teams for seamless deployments
- Take ownership of the agile software development lifecycle
- Promote iterative delivery with a focus on customer outcomes and measurable value
- Ensure high code quality through code reviews and automated testing
- Communicate technical concepts and progress to both technical and non-technical audiences
