Must:
We are seeking a candidate with 8-10 years of experience in software engineering, demonstrating a strong track record of delivering complex, user-facing applications in regulated, large-scale environments, preferably within Investment, Asset, or Wealth Management. You should have deep expertise in React or React Native, with hands-on experience in secure API integration, authentication flows, and frontend architecture. Proficiency in native mobile development using Swift (iOS) and/or Kotlin (Android) is essential, as is the capability to guide mobile-first initiatives and bridge web-mobile experiences. Additionally, you should be skilled in writing clean, maintainable, and well-tested code, with a firm grasp of TDD/BDD practices. Experience operating in both on-prem and cloud-native environments, with a working knowledge of AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes is also required. We value advocates for observability and service health who can utilize tools like Prometheus and Grafana to ensure reliability and performance. A passion for mentoring engineers, conducting code reviews, and driving technical excellence across teams is also crucial, as is the ability to thrive in fast-paced, regulated environments where speed, compliance, and innovation go hand-in-hand.
Responsibilities
In this role, I will build and deploy scalable, secure, and compliant software at pace. I will integrate HL web and mobile apps with existing and new systems to deliver a seamless client experience across a range of products and services. Delivering value iteratively while maintaining a focus on customer outcomes and short feedback loops is key. I will create and visualize application metrics to help understand usage patterns and anomalies. Reviewing code with peers, collaborating across teams to solve problems, and maintaining a keen eye for quality and velocity will also be part of my responsibilities. I will innovate and bring new ideas to the table for adoption throughout HL Digital, and drive technical decisions shaping how we build our services. Working closely with Product Managers and business stakeholders to align engineering outcomes with HL's mission and client value will be vital. I will champion a culture of continuous learning, cross-functional collaboration, and inclusivity with a growth mindset.
Description
At HL, we are building the next generation platform for one of the UK's largest financial services companies, trusted by over 2 million clients and managing approximately £150 billion in assets. The UCX team consolidates the efforts of the whole organization, transforming client journeys and delivering on HL's vision to provide financial freedom. By joining us, I will help deliver innovative and scalable solutions, making investing easier and more accessible to millions across the UK. I'm excited to be part of HL's future and contribute to the evolution of investing. Our competitive salary can go up to £115,000 depending on experience, and we offer a generous performance-based bonus scheme along with an excellent benefits package.
