Requirements
Must:
We are looking for candidates who possess a network infrastructure background with experience in large-scale deployments. You should demonstrate the following essential experience in your application:
- Proven consultancy skills regarding the potential uses and appropriateness of network/cloud infrastructure technologies, alongside the ability to drive benefits at a strategic level.
- Experience in end-to-end network architecture and associated technologies.
- Strong capability to work collaboratively within a team or independently, influencing strategic decision-making and understanding the consequences of IT decisions.
- Proven experience in building and maintaining strong working relationships with stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes for the business.
- The ability to articulate complex solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences.
While not mandatory, desirable qualifications include:
- Professional IT certifications such as TOGAF, ITIL, CCNP, AWS, or Azure.
- Experience in an agile environment and familiarity with methodologies such as TDD, Scrum, or Kanban.
- Skills in programming for network automation to support innovation and transformation.
- Familiarity or experience with AWS and/or Azure.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for the design and delivery of small, medium, and large scale projects that align with HMRC's strategic objectives. Your daily tasks will involve:
- Defining the strategy and architecture of the HMRC network.
- Collaborating closely with other architectural functions, third parties, vendors, and technical teams.
- Owning network services deliverables and gathering requirements.
- Conducting product analysis and developing solutions.
- Supporting and guiding the wider network services team.
- Producing comprehensive network architecture documentation and roadmaps.
- Analyzing the usage and effectiveness of technologies to positively impact our business operations.
- Providing internal consultancy on network architecture and the suitability of proposed solutions.

As part of our team, you will work across one of Europe's largest IT estates and support significant transformations that will have a profound impact on HMRC's customers and staff. Reporting to the Head of Network Architecture, you will play a key role in setting the technology direction for HMRC networks and delivering strategic networking solutions in collaboration with various teams. Given the nature of this role, candidates must possess valid SC clearance or demonstrate a willingness to undertake the process to obtain such clearance prior to starting.
