Requirements

Must:
- I hold a BSc or MSc (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or a related field, such as Biotechnology or Biology. - I have strong hands-on experience as a Software Engineer or Developer within the Life Sciences sector, such as for a pharmaceutical or biotech company, CRO, or other R&D business. - I am proficient in multiple programming languages, including Python, Java, and JavaScript; knowledge of R is an advantage. - I possess good knowledge of relational databases (SQL) and ORM technologies (e.g., JPA2, Hibernate). - I have experience in developing web applications using frameworks such as React, Angular, Node.js, or Spring MVC. - I am familiar with the software design life cycle (SDLC) and test-driven development methodologies. - I have good communication skills, enabling me to convey complex technical concepts to various stakeholders, including wet lab scientists. - I can work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while managing multiple tasks and priorities. *Please note that this role does not offer visa sponsorship, so I must already have the right to work in the UK.*

Responsibilities

- I will design and develop advanced software applications for laboratory and bioinformatics workflows, focusing on data management and analysis. - I will maintain and enhance existing software systems, ensuring optimal performance and functionality to support ongoing drug discovery and development efforts. - I will collaborate with scientists and lab personnel to automate lab processes, define system requirements, and gather user feedback for new features. - I will implement and refine software life cycle processes, introducing improvements where necessary. - I will scope, plan, and manage new projects while providing regular updates to management. - I will utilize external consulting resources to support project goals as needed. - I will work across the full software development life cycle (SDLC), from analysis and coding to testing and documentation. - I will troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing systems to ensure reliability and efficiency.
