Requirements

Must:
### - You must be a British citizen to meet customer and compliance requirements, including potential access to classified information. - A bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, such as Computer Networking or Information Security, or equivalent practical experience. - At least 5 years of experience in security engineering, DevSecOps, or platform engineering roles. - Experience with deployment and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, Mesos, OpenStack, Puppet, Chef, Salt, Ansible, Jenkins). - Experience with Unix/Linux operating systems internals and administration, or networking and troubleshooting. - Previous or currently active UK Developed Vetting (DV) security clearance. ###

Responsibilities

- We will ask you to build, configure, and deploy new compute, network, storage, and specialist security infrastructure, ensuring correct configuration and service delivery per Google standard playbooks. - You will need to resolve profile escalations and issues, improve the customer experience, and drive initiatives. - You will manage the health and performance of the environment using observability tools, conduct maintenance, and implement updates to roll out new features while keeping the platform secure. - Participation in a 24/7 on-call rotation for incident response escalation will be required within response and on-site Service Level Agreements (SLA). - You will provide technical implementation support in customer environments, including guidance on implementation and feasibility of cross-product integrations. ###

As part of our UK Sovereign Operations team, you will deliver, operate, and secure private cloud services for critical customers in the UK. In your role as an Infrastructure Operations Engineer, you will deploy and operate our private cloud services, working with various technologies to launch infrastructure, features, and updates, troubleshoot issues, and manage incidents. You will automate common tasks, manage incidents, and conduct retrospectives to prevent recurring problems, collaborating with local support staff and tapping into Google’s product teams for assistance. In this position, you will be instrumental in troubleshooting technical problems and updating our playbooks, benefiting our UK team and similar teams worldwide. Your ability to advocate for customer issues will help drive the success of Google Cloud. Note that you may need to work non-standard hours and participate in an on-call rotation.
