Requirements
Must:
- A minimum of 6 years Kubernetes experience, with a solid understanding of its core components and installation from scratch
- A minimum of 2 years working as a team lead
- Comfortable collaborating with cross-functional areas
- Strong security awareness including Kubernetes security best practices
- Hands-on experience with Python
- Ability to work in a cross-geographic team
- Understanding of computer science fundamentals such as threading and OOP
- Knowledge of software system concepts like networking, firewalls, protocols, and databases
- Familiarity with software delivery practices such as Git branching models and configuration management
- Experience with:
- Linux, Bash
- CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or similar
- Infrastructure as Code tools like Ansible or Puppet
- Containerization/Virtualization technology such as Docker, Podman, VMware
- Load balancing tools such as HA-Proxy, Nginx or F5
- Nice to haves:
- Completion of the Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) exam
- Familiarity with Kelsey Hightowers installation of Kubernetes the hard way
- Experience in highly regulated environments
- Experience in on-premise infrastructure
- Understanding of software delivery practices like feature toggling and no-downtime deployment
- Experience with Java
- Well versed in using GitOps practices for deploying configuration changes to Kubernetes clusters
Responsibilities
- Research, innovate, and develop tools & frameworks to enhance our Kubernetes clusters
- Monitor and ensure smooth operation of production, development, and test environments while automating repetitive sysadmin tasks
- Drive capacity planning to meet the demands of our growing platform capabilities
- Support and troubleshoot system issues by reviewing dashboards and logs
- Collaborate with other platform teams to maximize Kubernetes benefits for scalable solutions
- Set strategic goals for our in-house Kubernetes platform focusing on scaling, efficiency, and security
- Advise on Kubernetes best practices and guide architectural design and security initiatives
- Manage and motivate the team, prioritize high-value work, and conduct regular one-on-one coaching and performance management activities
