Must:
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer with strong hands-on experience in Node.js backend software development. You should be comfortable working with, or willing to learn other technologies such as AWS and React; experience in those areas would be a bonus. You should have a strong enthusiasm for writing clean, tested, production-ready code. Additionally, experience (or a keen interest) in data-heavy systems, IoT, or connected devices is desirable. Ultimately, this position is backend-focused, so comfort with the backend nature of the role is essential.
Responsibilities
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be instrumental in building and scaling a Node.js application that sits at the heart of our product. Your tasks will include designing and implementing new features tailored for various sectors and use cases, as well as driving improvements in code quality, architecture, and testing practices. You will work closely with the product and engineering teams to prioritize, shape, and deliver features. Additionally, you will introduce best practices and guide a shift towards cleaner, more maintainable code.
Description
We are a small but ambitious tech-for-good IoT startup based in the heart of London, focused on creating products that make sense of massive data streams. You’ll be part of a tight-knit team of around ten people, including five software engineers, working on a genuinely greenfield platform with a modern tech stack and no legacy. The current focus is on maturing our codebase—this involves re-architecting, refactoring, testing, and scaling.
