As a Junior Information Security Consultant, I expect you to demonstrate knowledge and appreciation of current IT threats and security measures. This requires a combination of good business awareness and technical IT knowledge or experience. Ideally, you should have at least 2+ years of relevant work experience, with some knowledge of IT security evident either through your work experience or qualifications. You must possess knowledge and understanding of information risk concepts and principles to relate business needs to security controls. Additionally, you should have technical knowledge of mainstream operating systems, particularly Microsoft Windows, and an understanding of security technologies such as network security appliances, identity and access management (IAM) systems, anti-malware solutions, and desktop security tools. Basic knowledge of network infrastructure and risk assessment methods and technologies is also preferred.
Responsibilities
In your role as a Junior Information Security Consultant, you will work closely with our information security leadership to deploy agreed changes to security requirements and address identified security risks. You will be tasked with raising information security awareness and supporting training activities. Additionally, you will assist in coordinating and completing information security operations documentation. Collaborating on IT projects will be essential to ensure that security issues are effectively addressed throughout the project lifecycle. You will advise security administrators on both normal and exception-based processing of security authorization requests. Researching and evaluating new threats will be part of your responsibilities, as well as advising on necessary communication or additional controls to mitigate these threats. Managing ServiceNow tickets assigned to the security team and escalating them when deadlines may be missed will also fall under your duties. Lastly, you will provide 1st and 2nd line support and analysis during and after security incidents, ensuring that guidelines for recording these incidents are followed.
