Requirements
Must:
- Recent experience with Java 21 or later
- Excellent understanding of TDD and BDD
- Experience with large microservice architectures
- Background working in an Agile environment
- Willingness to work in a pair programming environment
- Experience implementing APIs for internal and external use
- Skills to build a robust automated test suite
- Ability to support applications and platforms in 2nd-line support
- Working knowledge of Unix-like operating systems (Linux and/or Mac OS X)
- Understanding of Responsive Web Design
- Desirable: Working knowledge of Jackson, JAX-RS, Mockito
- Desirable: Familiarity with messaging platforms (ActiveMQ or Kafka)
- Desirable: Experience with MongoDB or other document databases
- Desirable: Experience building and scaling high-traffic websites
- Desirable: Ability to handle large data sets and their storage
Responsibilities
- Design, create, and improve new and existing products, platforms, and transactions across government projects
- Collaborate with a team of Developers, Designers, and Analysts
- Participate in 2nd-line support of applications and platforms
- Occasionally provide support outside of office hours
- Engage in pair programming and Agile methodologies
- Implement and maintain APIs for internal and external use
- Build a useful, robust automated test suite to support continuous deployment
- Contribute to ensuring the scalability and efficiency of high-traffic websites
Description
We are seeking outstanding Java Developers for a major government client in Tyne & Wear on a 12-month contract basis. This hybrid role requires 60% of your time to be spent in the office in Newcastle. We offer a competitive rate of £750 per day and are committed to promoting equal opportunities across our workforce.
