Requirements
Must:
- Recent hands-on support experience in a school or a similar user-dense environment.
- Proficiency in Windows and Microsoft 365 administration (including Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive basics).
- Experience with Intune/Autopilot or an equivalent Mobile Device Management (MDM) system, with a willingness to learn quickly.
- Knowledge of printing fundamentals, including drivers, defaults, and queues; experience with PaperCut is desirable.
- Basic understanding of networking concepts such as IP, DNS, DHCP, Wi-Fi SSIDs, and simple VLAN awareness.
- Familiarity with web filtering and monitoring platforms is a plus, although not essential.
- Comfort with interactive screens, AV setup, and troubleshooting.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to document processes, and effectively prioritize tasks during busy school days.
Responsibilities
- Provide frontline IT support by resolving classroom and staff issues within Service Level Agreements (SLAs) (e.g., login issues, printing, Wi-Fi connectivity, AV/interactive screens, and Teams calls).
- Manage the device lifecycle by imaging and enrolling laptops and desktops (Windows) via Microsoft 365/Intune/Autopilot and managing updates, encryption, and compliance.
- Handle accounts and access management, including joiners/leavers, group membership, password resets, and basic Entra ID/M365 administration.
- Oversee printing and scanning tasks, manage queue controls, drivers, defaults, and perform basic PaperCut administration.
- Conduct initial checks on broadband issues and perform basic networking tasks (including switch port/VLAN basics) while escalating issues as needed.
- Execute daily tasks on the school's web filtering and safeguarding platform (e.g., Smoothwall, Monitor, Classwize) following guidelines and escalation routes.
- Apply operating system and application updates, check antivirus/Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) status, and run routine checks.
- Support classroom AV and interactive screens, perform firmware checks, and conduct simple configurations.
- Maintain an up-to-date asset register, network/printer maps, and "how-to" guides.
- Provide calm and clear guidance to staff, conducting short one-on-one "show-me" sessions when necessary.
- Communicate clearly with teachers, support staff, and senior leadership, raising timely escalations to the Service Desk or IT Director of Education.
