Must:
We are looking for candidates with proven experience operating, maintaining, and implementing Fortinet/Fortigate SD-WAN, as this is a critical requirement for the role. You should have a strong understanding of networking fundamentals and practical implementations, along with deep knowledge of network security principles and threat mitigation. Familiarity with traffic management, performance monitoring, and automation tools is essential. You should also possess awareness of external threats and the ability to maintain network resilience. A passion for continuous improvement and leveraging the full capability of existing infrastructure is vital. We value leadership experience, so the ability to coach and develop a team is important. Additionally, strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities are necessary, along with being a clear communicator with excellent stakeholder engagement skills. You must remain calm under pressure and be hands-on in crisis situations.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will be part of a landmark year in UK rail history. You will lead a high-performing network team with broad operational impact and drive the deployment and optimization of Fortinet SD-WAN across the business. Collaboration with internal stakeholders and external partners will be crucial to ensure seamless service delivery. Moreover, you will take ownership of ad-hoc business projects and contribute to IT governance. This position allows for high autonomy in a fun but focused team environment, and you will enjoy hybrid working with flexibility and trust.
Description
We are partnered with one of the UK’s busiest and most strategically important train operating companies to recruit an IT Network Manager. This role is pivotal in leading the team responsible for the performance, security, and resilience of a mission-critical network spanning over 200 sites, including stations, depots, offices, and data centres. As we complete our transition from legacy systems to a modern Fortinet SD-WAN infrastructure, this position offers a unique chance to shape the future of connectivity across the network. The salary for this role ranges from £65,000 to £75,000, along with additional benefits, including a final salary pension and free rail travel across the network. The position will be based at London Bridge with a hybrid working model, requiring 3 days on-site.
