Requirements
Must:
- Proficient in using Hyper-V with our standard build processes.
- Strong experience and understanding of Windows Clustering.
- Expertise in configuring Network Load Balancers.
- Knowledge of CIS hardening implemented using Group Policy Objects (GPO).
- Familiarity with Active Directory and Certificate Authority.
- Ability to collaborate with network, security, and application teams to ensure seamless operations.
- Experience in automating server provisioning and configuration using tools like PowerShell, Ansible, or Terraform.
- Skilled in implementing and maintaining backup and disaster recovery solutions, including Bare Metal Restore (BMR).
- Competence in monitoring server performance and availability using tools like Nagios, SolarWinds, or equivalent.
- Ability to maintain documentation for systems architecture, processes, and procedures.
- Storage knowledge is advantageous.
- Capable of status reporting to senior stakeholders.
Responsibilities
As a Server Engineer, you will work with our team to ensure the robustness of our infrastructure. You will use your expertise in Hyper-V and Windows Clustering to manage our server environments. Your role will involve configuring network load balancers and implementing security measures through CIS hardening. You will also collaborate with various teams to ensure that our systems operate smoothly and efficiently.
You will automate server provisioning and configuration tasks, which will help streamline our processes. Additionally, you will implement backup and disaster recovery solutions, monitor server performance, and maintain accurate documentation of our systems. Reporting to senior stakeholders and providing updates on system status will also be a key part of your role.
Description
This is a contract position based in Crewe, offering a hybrid work environment with three days on-site each week. The contract will run until 03/07/2026, with a competitive rate of up to £349.60 per day (Umbrella inside IR35).
