Requirements
Must:
- Strong background in enterprise RHEL/Linux engineering, including build and hardening.
- Hands-on experience with automation for image creation and pipelines, ideally with exposure to CI/CD practices.
- Ability to integrate into vRO-driven orchestration workflows.
- Familiarity with VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) and working across both virtual and bare-metal infrastructures.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work in collaborative, fast-paced environments.
Responsibilities
- Build Linux (RHEL) vanilla images and implement security hardening to meet enterprise and compliance standards.
- Collaborate with the lead engineer to design and deliver automated build pipelines and repeatable Day-2 operational patterns.
- Contribute to the uplift of older OS versions and support integration with backup/recovery systems for onboarding applications.
- Work closely with VMware vRealize Orchestrator (vRO) developers to orchestrate provisioning workflows and deliver end-to-end automation.
- Ensure Linux environments are production-ready, resilient, and capable of supporting enterprise workloads.
Description
We are offering a contract position for a Linux Engineer to assist a leading enterprise client with a major infrastructure transformation programme. This initial 3-6 month contract is hybrid, requiring you to be onsite in central Leeds for 2 days a week, with a daily rate of £500 (inside IR35). You will have the opportunity to work on a high-profile Linux infrastructure modernization programme, contributing to a team that is focused on driving automation, security, and cloud-first engineering excellence.
