Requirements
Must:
- Proven experience leading engineering teams within enterprise environments
- Demonstrated ability to transform teams into high-performing engineering units
- Strong technical background with scripting skills (Python, Go, Bash or similar)
- Experience working in Agile environments
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to engage and influence stakeholders across large organisations
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Strong ownership mindset and attention to quality
- Desirable: Experience supporting vendor-backed platforms or enterprise applications
- Desirable: Background within financial services or regulated environments
- Desirable: Understanding of risk, compliance, and governance frameworks
Responsibilities
- Lead a cross-functional engineering pod delivering platform and automation outcomes
- Provide technical leadership and oversight across vendor product engineering activities
- Drive delivery across major upgrades, complex change initiatives, and 3rd line engineering support
- Collaborate with Product Owners, Architecture, and wider stakeholders
- Improve platform performance, resilience, and operational efficiency
- Define and track engineering performance metrics to drive continuous improvement
- Build team capability through coaching, mentoring, and embedding best practices
- Establish and uphold engineering standards including documentation, peer review, and quality controls
Description
We are working with a Tier 1 banking client seeking an experienced Product Engineering Lead to join a high-impact technology function responsible for delivering and supporting critical enterprise platforms. This key leadership role within our global engineering organisation focuses on driving automation, improving platform resilience, and building high-performing engineering teams. The position is based in Sheffield with a hybrid work model, allowing for three days onsite.
