Requirements
Must:
- Strong Python engineering capability (clean code, modular design, testing frameworks, maintainability)
- Proven experience building and owning CI/CD pipelines (tooling flexible Jenkins, GitLab, Azure DevOps, etc.)
- Hands-on experience with API integration and automation (REST, authentication, retries, logging, idempotent design)
- Demonstrated automation mindset (building reusable tools/platforms, not one-off scripts)
- Solid software engineering practices (version control, code reviews, documentation)
- Experience automating infrastructure or platform environments (strongly preferred)
- Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code/configuration tools (Ansible, Terraform, or similar) (strongly preferred)
- Experience with large-scale migrations or platform transformation (strongly preferred)
- Exposure to observability patterns (logging, monitoring, alerting) (strongly preferred)
- Experience with storage or data protection platforms (e.g., enterprise storage, backup/recovery tooling) (nice to have)
- Knowledge of enterprise infrastructure environments (Linux, Windows, cloud platforms) (nice to have)
- Experience in regulated or large-scale enterprise environments (nice to have)
Responsibilities
- Designing and building scalable automation solutions for infrastructure platforms (storage, compute, cloud)
- Developing production-quality Python code (modular, testable, maintainable)
- Building and owning CI/CD pipelines for automation tooling (build, test, deploy)
- Engineering API integrations between systems (REST APIs, authentication, error handling, retries, idempotency)
- Automating end-to-end processes such as provisioning migrations compliance and remediation workflows
- Contributing to Infrastructure-as-Code and configuration automation (e.g., Ansible, Terraform or equivalents)
- Implementing logging, monitoring, and observability for automation services
- Collaborating with platform, cloud, and DevOps teams to deliver infrastructure as-a-service
Description
We are supporting a Tier 1 financial services organization in hiring multiple Automation Engineers to join a critical platform engineering function responsible for large-scale storage and data infrastructure across a global estate. This role focuses on building high-quality automation solutions in a DevOps-oriented environment. You will be working hybrid with 3 days onsite in London, Birmingham or Edinburgh and 2 days remote. This initial 6-month contract comes with a strong likelihood of extension and offers a competitive day rate (inside IR35), providing an opportunity to work on large-scale, business-critical platform automation.
