Requirements
Must:
- At least 5 years of commercial experience in a Network Engineer role within a Managed Service Provider (MSP)
- Deep knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANs, and routing protocols (BGP, OSPF)
- Extensive experience with firewalls (Fortinet, WatchGuard)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Azure (IaaS), Microsoft 365 administration, and virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V)
- Advanced troubleshooting skills for Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP
- Familiarity with ITSM and monitoring tools (Halo PSA, ConnectWise, NinjaOne, SolarWinds)
- Experience in configuring and supporting Microsoft Exchange, routers (Cisco, HP, Draytek), and server hardware (HP ProLiant, Dell PowerEdge)
- Knowledge of storage technologies (NAS, NetApps, Synology)
- Strong understanding of Office 365, Microsoft Intune, and SSL Certificates
- Good interpersonal skills for effective customer service and team collaboration
Responsibilities
- Provide expert-level technical support for complex issues escalated from 1st and 2nd line support
- Support and configure Layer 2 and Layer 3 elements including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs
- Lead and execute strategic projects such as Microsoft 365 migrations and firewall upgrades
- Implement security best practices and manage firewall policies to ensure compliance
- Mentor junior engineers to enhance team capabilities
- Attend customer sites for installations, troubleshooting, or emergency scenarios
- Take ownership of escalated incidents ensuring efficient resolution within SLAs
- Identify root causes of recurring issues and implement long-term solutions
- Assess and implement changes to IT systems minimizing operational disruption
- Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation
- Interface with vendors and third-party providers to resolve technical issues and procure resources
- Present key issues and changes at monthly team meetings
- Maintain quality documentation on problem resolutions and update the technical knowledge base
