Requirements
Must:
- Solid experience in C programming for embedded systems, with at least 5+ years in a regulated industry such as aerospace, automotive, medical, or defense.
- Familiarity with IEC 62304 and 60601 regulations; experience in medical devices is a plus, but training will be provided if you come from other regulated industries.
- Experience with debugging and improving legacy code on memory-constrained microcontrollers, preferably in RTOS or bare-metal environments.
- Ability to understand and work with existing code without needing to rewrite everything unnecessarily.
- A passion for solving real-world problems over focusing solely on architectural purity, particularly in safety-critical firmware.
Responsibilities
- Work on life-support equipment and devices, including oxygen systems and breathing devices, ensuring accountability for the code that keeps people alive.
- Debug and enhance legacy C code, adding new features like wireless communications and connectivity without disrupting existing functionalities.
- Engage in hands-on lab work using proper testing equipment, including oscilloscopes, climatic chambers, and gas testing rigs.
- Collaborate with a small R&D team in a hybrid work environment, balancing remote work with occasional travel to Cheshire as project needs dictate.
