Requirements
Must:
- I am looking for candidates with extensive experience in IT Systems or Network Engineering; please note that this is not a sysadmin desktop support role.
- You should possess expertise and project understanding in networking, including TCP/IP, DNS, ports and protocols, routers, latency, firewalls, VPNs, etc.
- I expect experience in both Windows Server systems administration (Active Directory, RADIUS, PowerShell) and Linux systems administration (Ubuntu, Apache2, OpenSSL).
- Experience with different email configurations and management (DMARC, SPF, SMTP, IMAP) is essential.
- Additional experience with database administration (SQL Server, Oracle), MS 365 administration, Virtual machine hosting, and Azure would be beneficial.
- Strong communication skills are vital, as the role is particularly people-facing. You should be able to translate technical jargon for non-technical audiences.
- The ability to multitask, lead projects, and adapt swiftly to changing circumstances is important for success in this position.
Responsibilities
- I will rely on you to provide 24/7 IT support for On-Prem and Cloud applications as part of our dedicated internal IT team.
- You will be responsible for delivering full IT support for our wider organization, which includes extensive IT systems found in large corporate engineering companies.
- You should be prepared to respond quickly and efficiently to support cases escalated from helpdesks.
- Due to the nature of our projects, being onsite promptly may be necessary, so living in or near Cambridge is a requirement.
- Typically, you will only need to be in the office 2+ days per week.
- I also expect you to be on-call for out-of-hours support one week in four, with the capability to quickly come to the office during this time, as we provide 24/7 service to our customers.
