Requirements

Must:
- I require candidates to have a 1st or 2.1 degree in Computer Science or another relevant STEM discipline from a well-regarded university. - You should have substantial experience in software design and development to a high standard. - A meticulous and quality-focused mindset is essential; I value using software engineering best practices to produce robust and maintainable code. If you prefer quick hacks over quality, this might not be the right fit for you. - Proficiency in C#.NET and familiarity with most of the following technologies: Windows Forms, WCF, SQL Server, Entity Framework, and VB.NET is necessary. - Strong communication skills are crucial, as you will need to clearly explain complex issues and articulate your thought processes while collaborating with colleagues and clients. - A collaborative outlook and a willingness to work in an Agile environment based on eXtreme Programming (XP) rather than SCRUM is important. - You must have full, existing, and unrestricted UK work permission.

Responsibilities

- You will be joining a highly skilled team of expert developers to create B-to-B software that serves an essential role in keeping the country running. - The code you produce will have longevity and will be in use for years to come; thus, I am looking for candidates who appreciate good software engineering practices and are willing to make a long-term commitment.

Description

- I offer a position featuring a reduced working week of 30-plus hours, with additional flexibility on how those hours are divided throughout the week. There is also the possibility of hybrid working, but you will need to live within easy commuting distance of our Cambridge office for when your presence is needed. - If you are interested in working with a tight-knit and talented team to create useful, quality software with longevity, this may be the role for you. The position features a competitive salary and benefits package; part-time roles like this are rare, making this a unique opportunity.
