Responsibilities

As a Lead Application Operations Engineer at the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), you will take ownership of key business applications to ensure they deliver stable, secure, and evolving services that meet the needs of our users and teams. Your primary responsibilities will include the day-to-day reliability, improvement, and future direction of key business applications. You will work closely with service owners, DevOps teams, product managers, and other specialists to ensure the applications you support are resilient, secure, and aligned with wider service goals. Your work will directly impact how DBS delivers critical safeguarding services to the public.

Description

At DBS, we take pride in our culture, which values collaboration, inclusion, and professionalism. We provide flexibility, trust, and opportunities for growth, recognizing that our people require support, not just responsibility. Our benefits include a Civil Service pension with generous employer contributions, 25 days of annual leave (rising to 30 days with service), and flexible hybrid working options, including remote work. While office attendance in Liverpool or Darlington may be required according to business needs, remote working is available for this role. We are committed to being a Disability Confident Employer and embrace diversity in our recruitment practices, ensuring we welcome qualified applicants from all backgrounds. Please note that this role requires SC clearance, and potential candidates must have lived in the UK for a sufficient period to pass security checks.
