Requirements
Must:
- Degree in engineering, computer science, or equivalent experience
- Significant experience in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS focusing on web applications with modern frameworks like React & NextJS
- A portfolio or GitHub demonstrating experience with web applications and dashboards, particularly in SaaS, B2B, or data-intensive apps
- Excellent understanding of technical software engineering methods such as Source Control, Code Review, and Continuous Integration
- Familiarity with SCRUM and agile processes (preferred)
- Knowledge of Service-oriented & Microservices architecture (preferred)
- Familiarity with design tools (Figma, Sketch) (preferred)
- Exposure to testing frameworks (e.g., Jest, Vitest, Cypress, Jasmine) (preferred)
- Understanding of CI/CD techniques (preferred)
- Experience with GraphQL, OpenAPI spec, JSON Schema, SQL / NoSQL databases (preferred)
- Familiarity with MonoRepo project structures (TurboRepo) (preferred)
- Development of APIs with Python frameworks (e.g., FastAPI) (preferred)
Responsibilities
- Design and develop new micro-services, features, and websites for operational requirements
- Provide input to Diamond scientific software architecture
- Develop integrations with third-party systems used across the international scientific community
- Offer support to MX & CryoEM Groups, collaborating closely with science group leaders and senior staff
- Diagnose and resolve faults, taking responsibility for escalated issues with high-quality service
- Provide technical assistance for the development, testing, maintenance, and support of MX & CryoEM visualisation software
- Work with stakeholders to enhance core software, ensuring robustness and ease of use for developers
- Identify opportunities for technical or process improvement across supported instruments
