Requirements
Must:
- I am seeking candidates with a background as a Senior/Lead/Founding Software Engineer, startup/hands-on CTO, or Lead Architect experience, ideally in cloud-native or high-scale data environments.
- You should possess deep experience with Software Engineering, cloud deployments (especially AWS), and orchestration technologies.
- Proven delivery of big data solutions is essential, not necessarily at FAANG scale, but managing high-volume, complex data (structured/unstructured) is necessary.
- Familiarity with Databricks, Apache Iceberg, or similar modern data platforms is required.
- Experience in building software environments from the ground up, setting best practices and standards, is expected.
- A history of leading and mentoring teams is advantageous.
- A startup/scaleup background is preferred, with an adaptable mindset.
Responsibilities
- I will need you to lead a growing team (currently 2 engineers and external partners) across complex data and cloud engineering projects.
- You will design and deliver distributed solutions on an AWS-centric stack, embracing open-source flexibility.
- Work with Databricks, Apache Iceberg, and Kubernetes in a cloud-agnostic environment.
- Guide the architecture and implementation of large-scale data pipelines for structured and unstructured data.
- Steer the direction on the software stack, best practices, and legacy tech modernization.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary group including intelligence analysts, researchers, and domain specialists.
- Support clients who work in highly sensitive and secure environments.

Compensation includes a base salary ranging from £110,000 to £140,000, with flexibility, a 10% performance-based bonus, pension, private healthcare, 25 days of holiday plus bank holidays, and opportunities for learning and development.
