We are looking for candidates with a proven background as an AWS Architect, preferably in enterprise or financial services environments. Strong AWS certifications are essential, and candidates should demonstrate expertise in core AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS/Aurora PostgreSQL, VPC, IAM, and CloudFormation/Terraform. Experience in designing and delivering cloud-native infrastructures that encompass compute, storage, networking, and IAM is crucial. Candidates should have hands-on knowledge of data platforms in AWS, including data lakes, Aurora PostgreSQL, Redshift, Kinesis, Kafka, and Spark. We require the ability to architect real-time data ingestion, transformation, and streaming pipelines at scale, along with a strong understanding of cloud networking, security, governance, and compliance in regulated environments. Exposure to DevOps practices such as CI/CD, containerised workloads (Docker/Kubernetes/EKS), automation, and monitoring/observability is also desirable. Excellent stakeholder engagement skills are important, along with the ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical architectures. Additionally, financial markets experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
As part of our team, you will lead the design and delivery of AWS-native architectures, ensuring they meet scalability, performance, and security needs. You’ll define and implement cloud infrastructure patterns, including compute, storage, networking, and IAM. Your work will involve architecting data solutions within AWS (including Aurora PostgreSQL, Redshift, Kinesis, Kafka, and Spark) to manage market and trading data at scale. You will partner with engineering teams to translate business requirements into effective technical architectures, ensuring that cloud governance, compliance, and security standards are embedded in all designs. Guiding DevOps practices, automation pipelines, and containerised workloads (such as Docker, Kubernetes, and EKS) will also be part of your responsibilities. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including developers, product managers, and data engineers, will help to align solutions with the wider programme roadmap. Lastly, you will act as a technical authority for AWS adoption, providing key recommendations on service usage and optimisation.
Description
We are seeking two experienced AWS Architects for a large-scale programme focused on building and modernising data-driven platforms in the financial services sector. This position offers a hybrid work model, requiring 1-2 days onsite in London. The roles will involve hands-on architecture, design, and delivery of cloud-native and data-intensive systems in AWS. One role specifically requires a deep AWS infrastructure/cloud architecture background, while the other combines AWS expertise with a strong emphasis on data architecture. The rate for this role is negotiable and falls within Inside IR35 regulations.
