Requirements
Must:
We are looking for a seasoned manager with experience leading IT infrastructure teams, ideally with 4-6 direct reports. You should have a strong background in a regulated environment, such as the public sector, finance, or utilities, along with an understanding of governance and compliance. Practical experience with M365 migration, Azure platform management, and modern enterprise infrastructure is essential. You must be confident in procurement processes, supplier management, and contract performance. Additionally, we value excellent communication skills that enable you to engage effectively with both technical teams and senior leadership. We are seeking someone who is calm, structured, and accountable—a reliable safe pair of hands who can deliver stability while driving improvement.
Responsibilities
As the Head of Infrastructure, you will be responsible for leading, developing, and motivating a team that oversees the organisations technical infrastructure. Your primary tasks will include owning the strategy, planning, and delivery of infrastructure services to ensure stability, security, and future scalability. You will manage the modernisation roadmap, which includes M365 adoption, Azure platform development, and improvements across on-prem and cloud estates. Additionally, you will oversee supplier, contract, and budget management to ensure value for money and strong commercial governance. It will be your responsibility to ensure all infrastructure services comply with regulatory, security, and organisational standards. You will drive service performance, capacity planning, and availability management, with a focus on proactive monitoring and continuous improvement. Building strong relationships with senior stakeholders and acting as a trusted technical advisor will also be key components of your role, alongside leading change management activities to ensure new or enhanced services are smoothly transitioned into business as usual (BAU).
Description
This is a hybrid role located at home or in Gloucester. During the first 3-6 months, we expect you to work on-site 2-3 days per week. Once fully settled, this may reduce to approximately one day per week. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Infrastructure leader who can provide a steady hand through our period of modernisation and change, overseeing all infrastructure operations while ensuring the availability and performance of critical IT services and driving the evolution of our Microsoft 365 and Azure platforms. You will manage a team of five specialists, set clear direction, and create a culture focused on service excellence, compliance, and continual improvement. The salary for this role ranges from £75,000 to £80,000 and comes with excellent benefits.
