Requirements
Must:
- Extensive experience working within central government
- Hands-on experience with GDS
- Strong knowledge of user-centred design principles
- Ability to map and analyze complex service ecosystems
- Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
- Proficiency in designing collaboratively and openly
- Skills in facilitating workshops and co-creation sessions
- Advocate for user-centred and inclusive design practices
- Experience mentoring less senior designers
- Ability to develop service strategies and roadmaps for transformation
- Strong communication skills to convey design concepts visually
Responsibilities
- Lead the service design of end-to-end services that meet user needs and deliver policy intent
- Ensure accessibility and usability across digital touchpoints and service journeys
- Map and analyze complex service ecosystems, identifying pain points and opportunities
- Collaborate with teams including policy, operations, product, delivery, system design, and user-centred design
- Design collaboratively and engage with the team and wider stakeholders
- Map existing systems and processes using verified information to provide evidence
- Develop service blueprints, journey maps, and other visual artefacts
- Facilitate workshops and co-creation sessions with stakeholders and users
- Align service design with organizational goals, technical constraints, and delivery capabilities
- Track pain points outside of current delivery for future consideration
- Mentor and guide less senior service designers and contribute to the wider design community
- Ensure services are designed for scalability, sustainability, and continuous improvement
Description
We are a global leading IT consultancy, currently seeking multiple Service Designers to work with a central government client. This role is remote and offers a competitive daily rate of £450-£550 outside IR35 for an initial duration of 3 months.
