J2EE Software Developer

- Provide effective software development support to help our client remove the dependency of their application on JBoss and replace it with an alternative J2EE application server (Tomcat or another technology yet to be decided). - Work with the Authority Architects to evaluate and select an alternative technology to replace JBoss in the application stack. - Leverage existing functional requirements, design documents, and test cases for redevelopment. - Collaborate with the Authority team to refactor or redevelop existing application components that currently depend on JBoss to operate within the selected technology stack, including: - Removing backend functionality that requires proprietary Java where necessary. - Changing front-end interactions that require proprietary Java to use the new solution where necessary. - Updating and/or changing the authentication mechanism (Keycloak) and removing the JBoss integration. - Updating the logging functionality to remove JBoss. - Identifying open-source libraries that are in use to determine if they are JBoss specific, and changing them to non-JBoss open-source libraries where appropriate. - Replacing the existing JBoss adaptor with the selected technology adaptor. - Changing the existing JBoss keystone to the new selected technology. - Finding and removing/updating any JBoss specific references in the monolith not outlined above. - Contribute to the development of organizational policies, standards, and guidelines for software development, as needed. - Measure and monitor the application of team standards for software construction. - Plan and drive software construction activities, including adopting and adapting appropriate software development methods, tools, and techniques.
