Must:
We are looking for someone with the following skills, knowledge, and experience:
- Experience in leading engineering teams by providing technical leadership, guidance, coaching, and mentorship to foster team member development.
- Proficiency in modern software engineering for digital products, ideally with experience in Java, microservice architectures, Hexagonal software architecture, Mongo, and Kafka. Familiarity with designing and implementing modern cloud infrastructure, DevOps, and automation tools, particularly AWS, Terraform, GitLab CI, and Jenkins, is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of engineering best practices in version control and secure design processes.
- A collaborative spirit for sharing knowledge and best practices with the broader software engineering community.
- Experience working and leading in complex, multi-disciplinary environments while delivering products within specific timelines and engaging with multiple stakeholders.
Responsibilities
As a Technical Lead, you will play a pivotal role in driving DWP’s technical ambitions, particularly during a phase of significant change in our Working Age team. Your role will include:
- Setting the direction and driving tech-led innovation to enhance essential digital services that are utilized by millions of citizens across the UK.
- Being accountable for day-to-day product development and coordination among multiple technical teams.
- Providing technical input into business discussions, leveraging your extensive experience in areas such as software development, site reliability engineering, DevOps, and solution architecture.
