Requirements
Must:
We are looking for someone comfortable working with a range of programming languages including Python, SQL, and Proc SQL, with a particular focus on SAS, SAS Enterprise Guide, and Informatica. You should be skilled at digging into complex data and code to troubleshoot issues, ensuring everything runs smoothly and accurately. Experience in using industry standards and tools to design, build, test, and document programs and scripts is essential, especially for tasks that require iteration. You need to be confident in leading the development of ETL pipelines, managing large or complex datasets, and be adept at delegating tasks efficiently. Additionally, being able to guide the team through detailed data and code reviews to maintain high quality and resolve any processing hiccups is vital. We expect you to set clear standards for how we work with data and code, keep them current, and ensure compliance within the team.
Responsibilities
In this role, I will lead from within and help shape how DWP's Business Audit team approaches data engineering, without necessarily holding a formal leadership title. I will translate technical requirements into real, workable solutions, particularly during platform migrations and system upgrades. Collaboration is key, as I will work closely with other data engineers, offering guidance and sharing ideas to steer the direction of our work. I will support the redesign of ETL pipelines to enhance performance or resilience, assist with the transition to new data platforms or architectures, and engage in big-picture thinking about modern tools and patterns. I will also play a crucial role in mentoring team members, encouraging best practices, and promoting continuous learning and improvement.
