Must:
We are looking for a Lead Test Engineer who excels in communication and can coach, collaborate, influence, develop, and lead multiple diverse teams. You should be adept at influencing decision makers and key stakeholders to help support and define the strategic vision of solutions. A strong knowledge of multiple programming languages, technology, and testing frameworks across different architectures such as microservices, monoliths, and SaaS is essential. You must ensure that both functional and non-functional needs are embedded in the development and testing of solutions. The ideal candidate will have the ability to understand, review, and implement the latest practices, principles, and processes, driving towards whole team quality. Experience in managing and developing test strategies for both Commercial Off the Shelf solutions and proprietary solutions is also required.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for resolving technical blockers and understanding wider testing principles, particularly in Agile and Microservice Architecture. You will actively engage with the wider engineering community to drive consistency and adoption of strategic engineering solutions and standards aimed at achieving quality outcomes. This position will require hands-on testing engineering and leadership skills as you contribute to our Debt Digital Programme, which is a transformative change initiative within DWP. Your work will be pivotal in shaping the medium to long-term engineering strategies for centralized, reusable quality products and components that accelerate engineering delivery across DWP Debt Digital, ultimately meeting the expectations of citizens managing their finances online.
Description
You will join us in one of our brilliant digital hubs located in Birmingham, Blackpool, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle, or Sheffield, whichever is most convenient for you. We embrace a hybrid working model, allowing you to work from home some days and collaborate face-to-face at a hub. We offer competitive pay of up to £87,740, along with a generous civil service pension with employer contributions worth 28.97%, equivalent to over £21,000 per year. Additionally, you will enjoy a generous leave package starting at 26 days, increasing to 31 days over time, with the possibility of taking up to 3 extra days off a month on flexi-time, plus all public holidays.
