Requirements

Must:
- Expert knowledge and extensive experience of open-source technologies like Java or JavaScript and Node.js. - Experience leading multiple teams and driving changes in technology while fostering a supportive development and collaborative culture alongside other roles and disciplines. - Expert and extensive knowledge and experience developing cloud-based environments such as AWS and Azure. - Knowledge and experience of SQL and NoSQL database applications such as Postgres, MySQL, and MongoDB. - Skills to build a useful, robust automated test suite to support a continuous deployment environment. - Knowledge and experience of APIs, RESTful services, and Microservice Architectures.

Responsibilities

As a Lead Software Engineer, I will be an expert in my field and a role model in software craft. I am looking for individuals with proven experience in the design, development, and support of software products. I will enable multiple teams by driving consistency, standards, pace, and quality, resolving technical blockers, and promoting re-use and collaboration through the wider community. I will help define strategy and standards for our Engineering community, leading the adoption of best practices necessary to deliver quality software products. I will also represent DWP and Engineering across the civil service and in the wider tech community. While I am capable of stepping in and getting my hands dirty when needed, my primary focus will be to lead and set direction for other engineers and teams.

Description

We are offering a competitive salary of up to £89,995, plus an employer pension contribution of 28.97%, worth up to £21,050 annually. You will enjoy a generous leave package starting at 25 days and increasing to 31 days over time. Additionally, you can take up to 3 extra days off each month on flexi-time and enjoy all public holidays.
