Requirements

Must:
We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience: - Knowledge and experience of APIs, RESTful services, and Microservice Architectures. - Demonstrable experience in developing on cloud-based environments such as AWS or Azure. - A good understanding of Test Driven Development (TDD) and Behaviour Driven Development (BDD). - Experience with SQL or NoSQL database applications such as Postgres, MySQL, and MongoDB. - Experience and skills to build a robust automated test suite to support a continuous deployment environment. - Knowledge and experience in developing large-scale systems using open-source technologies like JavaScript and Node.js.

Responsibilities

In this role, I will be working on our payments products, so a background in payments would be helpful, though not a requirement. I will be responsible for building robust and accessible User Interfaces (UIs) that cater to a wide range of users. I'll be building and consuming APIs with a focus on an API-first design approach. I will have the freedom and autonomy to make design decisions that shape the future engineering landscape of DWP while collaborating with multi-functional agile delivery teams, including researchers, analysts, designers, architects, and testers. Additionally, I will be part of a thriving Engineering community and will be supported by over 200 other engineering experts dedicated to our shared passion and purpose.

Description

I can expect a competitive salary of up to £58,347, along with a generous civil service pension with employer contributions worth 28.97%. This position offers a flexible hybrid working model, allowing me to work both from home and in one of our digital hubs located in Blackpool, Manchester, or Newcastle-upon-Tyne. I will have access to a broad benefits package focused on maintaining a healthy work-life balance, which includes a generous leave package starting at 26 days and rising to 31 days over time, along with public holidays. The workplace culture is award-winning, emphasizing flexibility, professional development, coaching, and mentoring opportunities. The application and selection process consists of two stages: submitting my application through Civil Service Jobs and participating in a single-stage online interview.
