Requirements

Must:
- Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team to translate concepts into production-ready, user-centred digital services. - Demonstrable experience in building accessible and performant user interfaces across a range of devices and browsers. - Proficiency in using modern development tools and techniques, with a strong focus on writing test-driven code. - Experience of open-source technologies including HTML, CSS, client and server-side JavaScript, TypeScript, and other modern front-end templating frameworks. - Experience integrating front-end solutions with back-end services, working collaboratively within cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality services. - A thorough understanding of service design principles, with the ability to ensure consistency with established design and implementation standards. - The ability to promote standards and create a coaching and mentoring culture. - Demonstrable expertise in front-end development of large-scale systems dealing with high numbers of users, transactions, and business processes.

Responsibilities

As a Front End Developer, I work on agile, multi-disciplinary teams designing and building user-centred services. In this role, I build services that enable people with disabilities and health conditions to access work, support, and benefits more easily. I help integrate front-end solutions into the back end of services, ensuring that they are built and tested to a high standard. I turn agreed designs into robust and accessible user interfaces using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. My aim is to build accessible services which work effectively across multiple devices and browsers, utilizing modern tooling and development techniques to write test-driven code. I ensure that the design and implementation of services are consistent with standards and our design system. While my primary base is in my preferred location, I may be required to travel to other digital hubs as necessary, with travel counted as working time.

Description

I earn up to £50,296, along with a generous civil service pension with employer contributions worth 28.97%, totaling up to £12,345 per year. My leave package starts at 26 days and can rise to 31 days over time, with the option to take up to 3 extra days off a month on flexi-time. Additional benefits include a flexible working environment, time off for volunteering and charitable giving, and opportunities for professional development, coaching, mentoring, and career progression. Our workplace culture is recognized for its award-winning environment, including "Employer of the Year 2023" and various discounts, interest-free loans for commuting options, and numerous sports and social activities to engage in. We value your time and streamline our application and selection process to just two stages: an application on Civil Service Jobs and an online interview.
