Requirements
Must:
- Previous experience providing technical application support during major incidents, with an understanding and exposure to the ITIL Service Management Framework.
- Evidence of successfully communicating complex technical information to stakeholders and influencing their decision-making.
- Demonstrated ability to proactively seek and implement improvement initiatives from both a technical and process perspective.
- Proven experience collaborating with other technical teams to deliver quality service.
Responsibilities
As an Application Operations Engineer, I will help ensure our applications run smoothly and identify opportunities for improvement. I will work with a variety of technologies, including Linux and Windows servers, databases, cloud platforms, and third-party software. My daily tasks will include troubleshooting issues, deploying changes, monitoring performance, and enhancing processes. I will collaborate closely with developers, architects, testers, and other specialists within a technically diverse team. I will gain hands-on experience in managing certificates and key exchanges, diagnosing networking issues, and navigating both cloud and on-premises environments. Furthermore, I will be involved in proactive monitoring, implementing fixes, and contributing to continual service improvements to maintain security, stability, and high performance of our applications.
Description
I will be joining one of our fantastic digital hubs in either Blackpool or Newcastle, depending on my preference. Our hybrid working model allows flexibility, enabling me to balance home and in-office collaboration. The competitive salary for this role is up to £39,621, complemented by a generous civil service pension that includes employer contributions worth 28.97%, translating to over £10,000 annually. Additionally, I will benefit from a comprehensive leave package starting at 24 days, increasing to 31 days over time, along with the possibility of taking up to 3 extra days off each month through flexi-time.
