Requirements

Must:
We are looking for candidates who meet the following criteria: - Experience in front-end web development (HTML, CSS, and JavaScript). - Familiarity with agile development, software design patterns, continuous integration, test-driven development, and version control (preferably Git). - Strong interpersonal and communication skills. - Proven experience in identifying, locating, and competently fixing faults. - A strong interest in and commitment to accessibility.

Responsibilities

In this role, as part of a one-year development programme, you will: - Gain in-depth knowledge of digital accessibility, assistive technologies, and relevant legislation and standards. - Advise product teams on best practices for creating accessible web services and deliver training sessions to enhance capability across the organization. - Contribute to cross-government accessibility networks, sharing knowledge, and driving improvements at scale. - Build interfaces that work seamlessly across devices and browsers, ensuring consistency in design and implementation across services. - Work in a test-driven development (TDD) environment, using modern web technologies to write high-quality, test-driven code aligned with UK government standards. - Support code reuse and contribute to shared repositories, maintaining efficiency and quality across projects. - Stay up to date with the latest front-end techniques, tools, and methods, ensuring our services remain innovative and user-focused.

We offer a competitive pay of up to £46,547, plus employer pension contributions worth 28.97%. You'll have the flexibility to work in a hybrid model, dividing your time between home and our digital hubs in Blackpool, Leeds, Newcastle, or Sheffield. Our generous leave package starts at 26 days and increases to 31 days over time, with the opportunity to take up to 3 extra days off a month on flexi-time in addition to public holidays.
