Requirements
Must:
We require a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience. You should have at least 7 years of experience in IT infrastructure engineering or systems administration. A strong hands-on expertise with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V) is essential. Proficiency in scripting and automation (PowerShell, Bash, Python) is expected, and familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) will be an advantage. We value excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills, as well as proven experience in team leadership, project management, and high-pressure environments. Please note that sponsorship is not available; candidates must be eligible for SC Clearance (5+ years UK Residency).
Responsibilities
As our Lead IT Infrastructure Engineer, you will lead the design and architecture for on-premises, cloud, and hybrid infrastructure solutions, which includes servers, storage, virtualization, and networking. You will manage and maintain core infrastructure services, such as Windows/Linux servers, virtualization platforms, firewalls, and disaster recovery systems. Additionally, you will deploy and administer cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V). Ensuring 24/7 system availability, monitoring performance, and contributing to disaster recovery and business continuity planning will be core aspects of your role. You will implement infrastructure automation using tools like Terraform and Ansible, maintain monitoring and alerting systems such as Zabbix, Prometheus, or Nagios, enforce security best practices, and support compliance audits (ISO 27001, CE+). Importantly, you will manage, supervise, and mentor a team of infrastructure engineers, promoting knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
Description
In return, we offer a salary range of £55,000 to £65,000 per annum plus benefits, including a bonus scheme, pension, and private healthcare.
