Must:
We need a strong architectural background (TOGAF-aligned) with deep experience in Azure or AWS architecture. You should have proven experience leading and developing teams, along with the ability to coach Solution and Platform Architects to grow their capability and maturity. We are looking for someone who can translate business goals into actionable architectures and artefacts, such as high-level designs (HLDs), reference architectures, and minimum viable architectures (MVAs). Excellent communication and stakeholder skills are essential, as you will bridge the gap between business and technology. You need to have proven experience within an Agile, product-centric environment, along with the capability to mature architecture operating models or governance frameworks in large, complex organisations. It would be nice to have exposure to Data & AI or Digital Workplace domains, an understanding of SaaS and product architecture evolution, and experience with evidence-based architecture review or cloud fitness assessments.
Responsibilities
As our Principal Cloud Architect, you will set and steer our organisation's cloud direction, ensuring architectural integrity and alignment with business goals. You’ll oversee and mature a small team of Cloud Architects, guiding the design, governance, and implementation of solutions across the enterprise. Leveraging your influence across multiple domains, you’ll ensure that our architecture drives measurable business outcomes while closely partnering with Product, Platform, and IT leadership. This role is both strategic and hands-on, perfect for a leader who loves balancing forward-looking strategy with the technical depth necessary to shape delivery.
You will define, govern, and mature our Cloud Architecture strategy, lead and mentor the team of Cloud Architects, and collaborate with Product and Platform teams to align technology with business priorities. Additionally, you will develop artefacts including reference architectures, high-level designs, and MVAs. You will introduce evidence-based architecture governance, identify and remediate technical debt, and drive automation and measurement of architecture performance and benefits realisation. Staying ahead of industry and cloud trends will also be crucial, as you guide how new technologies—such as AI, Co-Pilot, and Agentive AI—are embedded within our business.
