Requirements
Must:
- Proven hands-on experience in Platform Operations/SRE with a focus on platform reliability and high availability.
- Technical expertise in:
- AWS, Linux, Terraform, CI/CD pipelines.
- Monitoring and observability tools (Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk, New Relic, PagerDuty).
- SQL/PostgreSQL diagnostics.
- Experience in leading P1/P2 incidents and driving rapid resolution.
- Experience in coaching, empowering, or developing a small team.
- Comfortable working in regulated environments (FCA/PRA experience desirable) with risk, audit, and DR/BCP responsibilities.
- Excellent communication skills for collaboration with engineering, security, and senior stakeholders.
- Ability to influence wider organizational practices to integrate DevOps principles into the tech culture.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the operational and technical lead for the UK platform.
- Ensure stable, secure, and high-performing platform operations.
- Lead incident management and service recovery efforts.
- Drive improvements in observability, monitoring, and alerting.
- Coach and mentor the Platform Team to foster ownership and autonomy.
- Collaborate with engineering, security, and business teams to embed reliability and DevOps practices.
- Maintain operational resilience, risk controls, and compliance.
Description
In this high-impact role, I will own UK platform operations from day-to-day stability to patching, releases, and service transitions. I will lead major incidents with technical insight and provide clear communication to stakeholders. My focus will be on building observability and alerting strategies, creating dashboards, and implementing automated health checks. Additionally, I will shape technical and operational standards, embedding DevOps principles across teams. This position offers an exciting opportunity to shape platform capability and culture from the ground up, with exposure to global teams and influence on strategic operational decisions. I will be working at the forefront of cloud-native technology, with 1-2 days per month in Leeds or Oxfordshire. The compensation for this role is up to £100,000, along with excellent benefits, including a bonus, shares, a 10% pension, and flexible working.
