Requirements
Must:
- Demonstrable experience in similar relevant technical roles
- Experience of incident resolution, requests, changes and problem-solving activities delivered to agreed SLAs
- Experience of implementing Cloud Technologies
- Experience of Microsoft Fabric
- Experience of managing SQL Server
- Good team communication with experiences in sharing and presenting new ideas and approaches with the team
- Willingness to learn, adopt and advance best-practices, procedures and qualitative standards
- Can operate in a complex environment under pressure
- Able to operate both with legacy and current technology
- Analytically minded and a strong attention to detail
- (Desirable) Experience of GitHub, Git Actions, Terraform, Platform as Code and Zero Trust architectures
- (Desirable) Experience of advanced tools for operational monitoring
- (Desirable) Ability to operate and influence at all levels within the organisation
- (Desirable) Experience of tools for Alerting and Monitoring
- (Desirable) Cloud Cost Monitoring and reporting
- (Desirable) STEM degree/postgraduate qualification
Responsibilities
- Have expertise around the Data Platform capability
- Maintain the Data Platform for all Connells users, managing critical downtime and risk of disruption
- Undertake root cause analysis and resolution of incidents
- Undertake applicable out-of-hours support as required for operational running
- Use Agile methodologies for platform development
- Deliver Platform as Code
- Work within the Cloud Platform design pattern to implement technical and financial observability
- Undertake platform capacity management
- Support projects where appropriate
- Undertake proactive monitoring and react to escalations from other IT teams
- Collaborate with other members of the team
Description
We are seeking a Data Platform Engineer to join our Group Technology team in Milton Keynes. In this role, you will play a key part in delivering the Connells Group Data Platform, focusing on design, capacity, management, and configuration management. Youll work collaboratively with a team of technical specialists and liaise with third-party providers, helping us to enhance overall processes related to service delivery. Our commitment is to foster a secure, supportable, and scalable cloud data platform that aligns with our business objectives and strategy.
