Requirements
Must:
- I require a minimum of 2 years in a similar role within a medium to large organization.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Windows Server technologies and VMware virtualization is essential.
- A strong understanding of networking concepts such as LAN/WAN, IPv4/IPv6, DNS, DHCP, IP addressing, VLAN, and QoS is necessary.
- Familiarity with Office 365, Azure, and other cloud platforms is preferred.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills for server, storage, and network issues are vital.
- Experience supporting business-critical applications, managing backups and restores, patching servers, and monitoring infrastructure performance is required.
- You must have strong communication skills across all levels of the business.
- It is essential for you to possess all relevant work permits for the UK and necessary security clearances (DBS and CTC).
- Relevant vendor training and certifications are expected.
Responsibilities
- I expect you to maintain and support our client's server infrastructure.
- You will ensure the continuous operation of primary and disaster recovery data centres through regular health checks.
- You will participate in infrastructure-related projects, ensuring they meet business objectives and timelines.
- Collaboration with other IT teams and business units will be crucial to ensure successful project implementation.
- Enhancing system reliability and security by adhering to and implementing industry best practices is part of your role.
- I need you to ensure that all infrastructure components are updated, patched, and protected against security threats.
- You will provide support for server, network, and related infrastructure issues, troubleshooting complex technical problems to ensure system availability and optimal performance.
- Identifying opportunities to enhance infrastructure efficiency, reliability, and security will be part of your responsibilities.
- Staying informed of industry trends and emerging technologies to introduce innovative solutions is expected.
- Maintaining and securing the IT infrastructure, focusing on antivirus, firewalls, and endpoint protection will be essential.
- You will provide escalation support to the Help Desk team.
- Comprehensive documentation of procedures, as well as regularly updating system documentation, network diagrams, and support processes is required.
- Out-of-hours support and maintenance will be expected when necessary.
- You will be responsible for your health, safety, and well-being as well as that of your colleagues in the workplace.
Description
This role is ideal for an IT professional with a robust background in infrastructure management, strong troubleshooting skills, and a proactive approach to maintaining and improving IT systems. I am looking for someone who is comfortable working in a dynamic environment where infrastructure reliability and security are critical to business operations. Additionally, experience supporting mission-critical cloud-based systems, particularly Azure, and knowledge of Palo Alto firewall configuration will be advantageous. Proficiency in PowerShell scripting is also desirable.
