Requirements

Must:
- Proven commercial experience developing in AL (Application Language) for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central - Strong understanding of the Business Central data model, object types, and event-driven development patterns - Experience with on-premises BC deployments on Windows Server — not solely cloud/SaaS - Experience developing and consuming BC API pages and OData web services - Familiarity with Azure DevOps or Git for source control and CI/CD pipeline management - Solid understanding of RDLC report design and Word report layouts - Ability to work independently on the full development lifecycle from design to deployment - Experience with previous versions of Dynamics NAV or Business Central, including upgrade and migration projects (desirable) - Knowledge of Power BI and its integration with Business Central for reporting (desirable) - Analytical and methodical problem-solver, able to diagnose complex issues across both the application and infrastructure layers - Clear communicator — able to translate technical detail into business language for non-technical stakeholders - Self-motivated and capable of managing multiple development tasks with competing priorities - Collaborative team player who works well with IT colleagues, finance teams, and operational staff - Commitment to code quality, documentation, and maintainable solutions - Proactive about staying current with Microsoft Dynamics platform developments and roadmap changes

Responsibilities

- Design and develop AL extensions for Business Central OnPrem, including table extensions, page extensions, code units, reports, and API pages - Build and maintain custom integrations between Business Central and third-party systems using API page extensions and web services - Develop and maintain custom reports using RDLC and Word layouts - Implement business logic customisations in line with functional requirements, following Microsoft best practices - Manage source control for AL projects using Azure DevOps or Git - Design and implement data integrations using BC API pages, OData, and web services - Support EDI, e-commerce, or third-party connector integrations as required by the business - Gather and document functional requirements from business users across finance, operations, sales, and purchasing - Translate business requirements into technical specifications and development tasks - Provide training and documentation for end users and internal IT colleagues - Participate in change management and release processes, including UAT support

We are seeking an experienced Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central Developer to join our IT team. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain customisations and extensions for our on-premises Business Central environment, working closely with the IT Director to deliver solutions that support our operational and financial processes. We embrace modern development practices and actively encourage the use of AI-assisted tooling to accelerate delivery, improve code quality, and explore innovative solutions. We offer a full-time, in-person position with a competitive salary starting from £35,000 per year.
